For Children

    1.    Comfort Object: Children can use stuffed animals for self-soothing, providing a sense of safety and security, especially during stressful situations or when they feel anxious.

    2.    Role Play: Children can role-play scenarios with their stuffed animals, which can help them work through fears, practice coping strategies, or develop problem-solving skills.

    3.    Companion in Therapy: Bringing a stuffed animal to therapy can help children feel more secure in the session and open up more easily.

    4.    Mindfulness Practices: Use stuffed animals to teach mindfulness by placing the animal on the child’s stomach while lying down. The child can observe how the stuffed animal rises and falls with their breathing, encouraging relaxation.

For Adults

    1.    Grounding Tool: Holding or cuddling a stuffed animal can help adults feel grounded and reduce anxiety during moments of distress.  In stressful situations, the physical presence of a stuffed animal can help individuals focus on the present moment and feel more grounded.

    2.    Mindfulness Practice: Similar to children, adults can use stuffed animals in deep breathing exercises, focusing on the rise and fall of their breath by placing the stuffed animal on their chest or abdomen.

    3.    Sensory Soothing: The texture and warmth of a stuffed animal can provide tactile comfort, especially for those who find comfort in sensory experiences.

    4.    Sleep Aid: Sleeping with a stuffed animal can offer comfort, calm racing thoughts, and aid in getting better sleep.
